Option - Boiling wells Artificial Surface and South Purdown

Proposal

Artificial Surface in Boiling Wells (ie. the old Thomas More site), Purdown to be redeveloped with "major cut and fill exercise" to provide 3 new pitches.

Facilities

Onsite:

Offsite: No provision.

Total Cost

£870,985
note: Although the LEA have identified an offsite requirement with the Purdown option, no offsite provision has been made with this configuration.

projected PE lessons offsite

0.6% (13 out of 2052 double P.E. lessons)

Risks

Subsoil contamination at Boiling Wells may lead to higher cost of development. "The development of such an area is high risk and ideally should be avoided".

"presence of weathered mudstones and mudstone" on Purdown could lead to cost being "dramatically increased".

Need to import good quality fill material for Purdown may also increase cost (add £100,000).
