Summary of Options

There are two requirements to be fullfilled.

• The first is the Govt's statuatory requirement, which is 50,000m2 for a school of 1000 pupils. (An artificial surface can count double towards this figure.)
• The second requirement is what will actually be played, when and where. This is the true need of the school.

The new Fairfield school site has 20,000m2 of existing sports pitches at Boiling Wells, which Thomas More school has used for over 20 years. These will be upgraded and available for use, regardless of what other site is chosen to make up the remaining Govt. statuatory requirement. With a raised grass area, these pitches will fulfill 96.7% of the schools timetable needs onsite (p.18, 19) of the report).
